Apply These 5 Secret Techniques To Improve Your Water Treatment Systems

Water is essential for the existence of any organism on earth. Water can also be a source of many diseases as it can contain a lot of microbes and other substances which can cause illness to other animals and plants. Water treatment is the process of removal of harmful organisms and substances that may harm an animal or plant. It, therefore, should be adequately treated to ensure that it is safe. The following are some of the water treatment systems and techniques that can be used to improve water safety.

  1. 1. Carbon filtration

Carbon can absorb chlorine and chloramines from water. It also can remove organic contaminants such as paradichlorobenzene, trichloroethylene, trichloromethane and many more. Though carbon is limited; it cannot absorb total dissolved substances in water. Carbon filtration can improve the taste, clarity, and odor of drinking water.

  1. 2. Coagulation and flocculation

In this process, chemicals with a positive charge are added to water in the treatment process. The positive charges are attracted to the negative charges of dissolved particle and dirt particles. This occurrence leads a formation of floccules in water, as chemicals bind to particles hence forming large particles.

3. Sedimentation

Sedimentation follows the process of coagulation and floccules. The large dirt particles will settle down at the bottom making the water clean to use.It takes time and the longer the time is taken, the cleaner the water will be.

4. Filtration

Filtration can take many forms; it is passed through a series of a layer of sand charcoal and gravel. The water may also be passed through sieved of varied pore sizes so that it can filter out small particles and any microbe.

5. Chlorination

Chlorine or chloramine may be added to kill diseases causing microbes and prevent water from being infected as it passes through other vessels.

  1. This is the process of adding hypochlorite or chlorine in the water. Chlorine is highly toxic to many microbes in water, and it is used to prevent the spread of water-borne diseases such as dysentery, cholera, and typhoid. Chlorination is a very old method that has been in use for ages in the process of water treatment.

The shock chlorination process is used in many wells, swimming pools, springs and other water sources. It is used to reduce algae and bacteria in the water. This is done by mixing a large amount of hypochlorite, either in the form of powder or liquid with water. The water is then left so that the amount of hypochlorite in water has reduced before being used.

Water treatment processes are very critical since our life wholly depends on the water we use. The above techniques are mostly used in combination so that the process of water treatment is efficient and all the contaminant is adequately removed.
